Description
F Ball F46 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Adhesive – 5ltr
STYCCOBOND F46 is a solvent-free acrylic polymer emulsion adhesive that dries to a permanently tacky film. It is used to reduce the incidence of trowel serrations shadowing through thin vinyl flooring and is designed to give a strong initial tack and a high bond strength. It is protected against biodegradation and is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations.
STYCCOBOND F46 can be used for securing a wide range of sheet and tile floor coverings.
STYCCOBOND F46 can also be applied to STOPGAP smoothing underlayments, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete and sand/cement screed, plywood, flooring grade chipboard and hardboard. Sound flooring grade asphalt must be skimmed with a minimum of 3mm of the appropriate STOPGAP smoothing underlayment.
STYCCOBOND F46 can be applied directly to STOPGAP Waterproof Surface Membranes and other non-absorbent subfloors where the surface finish is smooth enough to permit the installation of resilient floorcoverings.
Product Specifications & Key Features:
- Appearance: Viscous Liquid
- Colour: White
- Available in 5ltr capacity
- Drying Time (approx.): 40 minutes depending on temperature, humidity and absorbency of the subfloor
- Coverage (approx.): 3m² per litre with a 1.5mm x 3mm (A2) or 4m² per litre with a STYCCOBOND fine notch (A1) or 5m² per litre with 1.5mm x 5mm trowel:
- 5 litres Tub = 25m² with a 1.5mm x 3mm trowel
- 5 litres Tub = 20m² with a STYCCOBOND fine notch (A1)
- 5 litres Tub = 15m² with 1.5mm x 5mm trowel
- Note: Coverage rates will depend on the condition and absorbency of the subfloor
Application:
Holding the trowel at an angle of 60°, spread the adhesive evenly over the subfloor. Following the floorcovering manufacturer’s laying instructions and using the guidelines given below, place the floorcovering into the adhesive and press from the centre outwards to exclude any air; then roll from end to end and side to side using the 68kg flooring roller. 1 to 4 hours later roll again in two directions
Absorbent surfaces – Apply the adhesive using a STYCCOBOND 1.5mm x 3mm (A2) or 1.5mm x 5mm ‘V’ notched trowel then immediately roll with a paint roller, which has been pre-wetted with adhesive, to obtain a smooth, uniform appearance, to minimise adhesive grin through. Alternatively, use the STYCCOBOND FINE NOTCH trowel. Floorcoverings can be placed into the adhesive immediately although it is advisable, when installing tiles, to leave the adhesive for approximately 10 minutes before placing the flooring, reducing the potential for sliding.
Non-absorbent surfaces – Apply the adhesive as previously described but allow the adhesive to dry to a firm tack before laying the floor covering. When installing vinyl tiles, apply the adhesive with a STYCCOBOND 1.5mm x 3mm (A2) or 1.5mm x 5mm ‘V’ notched trowel, then roll with a paint roller pre-wetted with the adhesive. Roll tiles immediately after placement into the dry adhesive film using a 68kg flooring roller. Alternatively, a STYCCOBOND FINE NOTCH (A1) trowel may be used if preferred.
Do not use the paint roller to extend the area covered by the adhesive, as this will reduce adhesion.
Note: When trowelling the adhesive directly onto cured STOPGAP Waterproof Surface Membranes, ensure that the membrane is not damaged or punctured by the trowel.
For any areas under question please consult the F Ball Technical team.
Precautions:
Do not apply loads or move furniture on the floorcovering until the adhesive has fully set. Do not weld vinyl floor coverings until the adhesive has had sufficient time to develop a good bond, normally 24 hours.
