Description
F Ball Stopgap P131 (5kg) General Purpose Primer
STOPGAP P131 is a primer designed to promote the adhesion of STOPGAP smoothing underlayments to smooth non-absorbent surfaces. It can also be used as a general-purpose primer for absorbent surfaces to promote adhesion and to prevent unacceptably rapid drying of adhesives and smoothing underlayments.
It is suitable for use in marine applications as part of an IMO system. It is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations.
STOPGAP P131 is coloured green to provide the user with visual control of coverage uniformity.
STOPGAP P131 should be used on non-absorbent surfaces of STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, terrazzo, power floated concrete, quarry and ceramic tiles, sound asphalt, epoxy marine primers, well-bonded epoxy and polyurethane coatings and minimal existing adhesive residue. It should also be used on absorbent surfaces such as concrete, sand/cement screeds, plywood, hardboard and chipboard.
Product Specifications & Key Features:

Coverage:
The coverage rates will depend on the condition and absorbency of the subfloor.
- 5 litres neat*: 50m² (max)
- 5 litres diluted (4:1)**: 100m² (max)
- 5 litres diluted (7:1)***: 175m² (max)

** Applied diluted for internal absorbent surfaces.
*** Applied diluted for external and damp surfaces.
For any areas under question please consult the F Ball Technical team.
Drying Time:
This will vary depending on the temperature, humidity and absorbency of the subfloor. On absorbent subfloors, at 20°C, allow 20 to 30 minutes before proceeding with the application of STOPGAP smoothing underlayments or STYCCOBOND adhesives. On non-absorbent subfloors, at 20°C, this is typically extended to 60 minutes. These times will be extended at lower temperatures.
Precautions:
Avoid excessive trafficking of the subfloor once the primer has dried. When priming absorbent surfaces prior to the use of STOPGAP smoothing underlayments, particularly STOPGAP 800 WEARCOAT or 850 EXTERIOR, several applications may be required to reduce the incidence of pin holing.
Tools:
Paint roller or soft brush. Wash tools with warm water immediately after use.
Storage:
Store between 5ºC and 30ºC. Protect from frost.
Shelf Life:
12 months in unopened containers stored under good conditions.
